As far as the UFC being fixed, I doubt it. The Gracies came up with the idea but didn't pick the draw or fighters, that was done by Art Davies. The Gracies also haven't been involved in the UFC since UFC 4 or 5 so there's no reason these people who were "refused" couldn't have fought later on.

It also seems a convenient excuse for all those "masters" who can say "Well, I wanted to fight them but they knew I was too powerful and refused me". What a joke ! If these people really are so deadly why don't they compete now, or in other MMA events ?

I'd also like to point out that Wing-Chun is very susceptible to takedowns with a shoot because of their stance. So to say that no-one could grab hold of your instructor seems to me to be a bit silly. Especially if his opponent is also a good stand-up fighter.

It's always easy to get carried away with hero-worship, but there are plenty of good stand-up martial artists out there who cold hold their own against a WC man.

You said it yourself, it is easy to get carried away with hero worship!. Yes it is, isn't it??. I was not saying that no one can't grab my sifu, I said that it would not be that easy as you guys think it is just because he don't do any MMA or BJJ. Susceptible to take downs coz of stands? Do you really think we just stand there without moving?. Yes, I know that Wing Chun is not the best or "the one and only" or " the biggest and best" out there, compared too you, who seems to have an answer too all with your "worshiped" style/art!.

And to this "Master's" excuse who said the UCT tournament (I always forgetting the shortname for the tournament, I'm sorry about that!) was fixed I can say this, He had fought and won a lot of other equally big tournaments, but was refused too fight the grasies or whatever there name is. Why should he lie about this?. And why do you guys every time this comes up says something like Autor here says?.

It's to mush of "what if..." to say for a fact that this or that is better, you know that and I know that.

I would love too train with other styles/arts and when I have a little more flesh to hang on my little skinny MA bones I'll do just that, arrange a big so called "open mat" or something, not to se what's best, but to open and tear down some walls between other styles/arts. Sounds fun or??.

WC Straydor,

The reason I presume this person is lying is because ... where is the proof ? There is a presumption of innocence in most Western societies and I'll assume that the Gracies are innocent of fraud until someone proves otherwise.

Like I said, this person has found a quick way to give themselves a boost in the public eye without actually fighting.

Why not enter another MMA competition to prove their skills?

Why not walk into the Gracie academy with a video camera and challenge Royce ? Or go to Rickson's school and challenge him like Yoji Anjou did ? He got smashed for it but at least he had the balls to put it on the line.

I recognise that WC has great strengths for fighting in the street, but has some flaws i.e. susceptible to shoots, and hook punches.

Also, I recognise the flaws in BJJ and will be quite happy to point them out or agree with anyone else who does. However, I've been in the martial arts long enough, and trained with enough different people to know what works and what doesn't.

You said the guy who claims the UFC was fixed had won a number of "equally big" tournaments. Which tournaments would these be?

And just because one blowhard claimed it was fixed does not make it so. You want it to be fixed SO BAD that you would believe anyone who said so.

Hypothetical situation for you. Say you are fighting someone with equal standup skills to your own, maybe he's just a little bit better, starting to get an edge.

Do you

A. continue with your previous strategy and lose?

or

B. Formulate a new strategy, one that can take your opponent out of his element?

It is the more well rounded fighter who has this choice.

No, I know that if one man say it's fixed it might not be the truth, but to be honest, I don't give A rats *** about it, coz I really don't care if it is. My consern is the avarage Joe I might meet in a street fight and not some cage fighting super hero!. I had been in a lot of fights, but I'll never been taken or have taken someone myself to the ground and kept on fighting there. So what I'm saying and what you are saying is basically this: I say that my Wing Chun is allmost an overkill against average Joe, you say that my Wing Chun won't work coz it have no ground work.

Ask yourself this: how big is the chanse for me to meet someone who is really good in ground fighting in a regular street fight.?? (Unless, off cause, everyone practicing BJJ or MMA is running around in the streets just looking for a fight (This was ironiq ment, no affence)). Not so big, no.

Or to twist it a little, I think it is a bigger chanse for you guys to meet up with someone good in fighting standing up!. Se my point?. Yes, it can happen, but the chanses are so slim that I'm willing to take that chanse.

The most of us do not train for competition, but for health and self defence and my personal opinion is that most of the styles out there will do the job just fine. The reason I was picking on the mixed MA's is that there seems to be some sort of missanderstanding about this. You just love, like me, what you are doing and just hate it when anyone comes by and steps on you and what you love, right?.

Like I did when I quoted the guy from Combat magazine about the fixed fights, who by the way is true, he said that and he also was fighting in Pancrace and K1 i think(Spellings ok???). It was sort of like poking a aligator with a short stick, but it proved to me that you got affended by it just like I was when you stated that nothing works in a street fight except the stuff you go and learn.

I love MA in any form, but it is so anoying when the "my style is sooo mush better than yours" comes up and like you said, some of you are just over devoted in it and what I really is trying to say is; slow down a little!. Don't step on everybody just be coz they train traditional or any other style. You are agreeing with me that it would be rather boring just chatting with folks with just the same opinions, right?.

Now I go to bed. I wanna train tomorrow morning, I think it is time to meet Joe, the average man....

WC-Strayder,

I don't think anyone is saying WC or any traditional art is ineffective. That would be silly. They do have flaws though, as do all arts.

As to this guy not being allowed to fight in UFC, please give us a name to work with so we can try to verify or disprove his claims.
