PhilM1 Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 as im taking bjj. i would still like to keep my stand up skills about me. how can i keep these skills up without hopefully joining a kickboxing academy. fight til you die
TJS Posted May 1, 2003 Posted May 1, 2003 really without a school it will be hard...Bas rutten has some good videos though.
SevenStar Posted May 4, 2003 Posted May 4, 2003 does anyone else in your class have any standup training? maybe you can workout some training times with them
Treebranch Posted May 10, 2003 Posted May 10, 2003 Study stand up at another school, or maybe a local college has boxing or karate. If it's important to you and you feel your are not getting it there, by all means. three60roundhouse Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 A LOT of Bjj guys cross train...perhaps a guy in your academy will work out with you? No doubt if you train with blues, purples, and browns one of them will have an extensive striking background! Most of the time BJJ isn't one's first art anyway. WC-Strayder Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 I think it's better to be really good in one skill than a junkhead of many. Most styles out there will give you the tool's you need, whatever thay is, but if you train BJJ, why do anything else???. If the first lesson was a failure, then you know that skydiving isn't for you!
brando-san Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 As I brag about every day, I am an ultimate high-ranked ninja that has mastered Ninjitsu many times (think like completing the same video game over and over) I have good skill in Aikido and BJJ, I also am 8 months or something in Jeet Kune Do. http://www.yen2you.tk <-- simply the best
