define "streetfighter".

Recommended Posts

this term gets thrown around alot on ma message boards.

What the hell is a street fighter? A guy who goes around fighting on the streets? ..no.

A guy who occasionaly gets into fights with random people? ...no.

Or is it a term used to describe untrained people who get into fights occasionally? Why are "street fighters" blown out of proportion?

A hoodlum, a crook, or a drunk does not = a street fighter

or, There is no such thing as a street fighter.

discuss.

to me there are 2 types of street fithers.

1. The ones who either like to fight or fight for a reason a lot. They are somewhat trained with their "street fighting" style which is 2nd hand martial arts information that has been mangled by people who dont know what they are doing.

2. People who go around hanging in the streets with no formal training starting fights.

pretty much the same thing but a little different. Street fighting also includes moves made up by people who grew up on the streets. cheapshots punches to the throat and what not.

fight til you die

Hahaha! Andrew, you've got it!

===================

When cornered, kick 'em in the spetznats. If that doesn't work, run around acting like an epilept + flail your arms about while whizzin' in your pants, then fall down foaming at the mouth. They'll be so disgusted THEY will walk away from the fight....

The mythical creature who every traditional stylist fantasises about reverse punching...

I think there was an X-files episode about it once...

funny. It's the same mythical creature every MMA's is sure he could beat the snot out of... until the reverse happens to him!

:D Zing, back at ya :D All in good fun

I think it's just a term for a person that gets in alot of fights, is used to getting hit and hitting, and isn't going to follow any set of "rules". they're just going to pound you anyway they can. In short, a thug.

In the original term of "streetfighting", a streetfighter is one who fought in the "underground fight-clubs" (basically the unregulated, bare-knuckle, money fights, which are illegal).

A lot of people profess to be a "streetfighter", they lie.

There are only a handful of true streetfighters that are in the public eye, Tyson was one before he turned Pro-Boxer. A lot of other "streetfighters" are out there, only a few are legit (as legit as you can get in this...), a number of people claim to be, but are usually hustlers looking to scam...

Actually MMA fighters have a lot more realistic views on there abilities, because they test them daily. Go to any MMA board and look for discussions on dealing with weapons or multiple attackers. The only response you will find is "Don't try it"

Now go to Traditional boards and magazines and you will find all sorts of bad A$$es who can tell you exactly how to do it.

I agree with you. But perhaps you missed the "zing" and "it's all in good fun part" I wrote? I saw your tonge-in -cheek response and poked back a bit.

As a "traditional" MAist (man I hate that term) I would never advise anyone to how to deal with weapons or multiple attackers. No i take that back. I think I'd say dont do it. funny how were similar eh?

have a good day Andrew :)
