Looking for a martial art that fits me.

Recommended Posts

Pa Kua Chang is an awesome form of Martial Arts!

The only down side is its very hard to find a legit instructor.

I was thinking of cross training Aikido and Pa Kua sometime in the future.

If you can find a Pa Kua school, definitely check it out!

Is Pa Kua basically Ba Gua? It seems very interesting. There is also a studio of Taoist internal self defense nearby called Hsing Chen Internal Martial Arts. They offer T'ai Chi, Qi Gong, Ba Gua, Hsing I, and Internal Shaolin.

Yes, Pa Kua Chang is the same thing as Bagua Zhang (same thing, different spelling).

I would definitely try both Bagua and Hsing I, they are somewhat opposite styles, but combined, they could be extremely devastating.

Hikeon3, that school sounds like an interesting way to go. You'll find your AK background will help you since you are used to dealing with and understand principles. Of course, it will also be a difficult transition from the external to the internal. When we work with the martial applications of Taijiquan I have a tendency to revert to AK. I think my instructor looks at me as good training in staying mentally centered sometimes  .

Freedom isn't free!
