Buy a freakin gun. No martial art style is going to MAKE you deadly, there is no secret death move or lethal pressure points like so many idiots believe. Seriously, there are several ways to develop yourself into a weapon, you can choose striking styles (TKD, Karate, San Shou) etc. You can choose joint-lock styles (Hapkido, Aikido) etc. You can also choose grappling or weapon-oriented styles, each one has positives and negatives. What truly matters is how much time you spend training and how effective you make the techniques that you learn.

I disagree and agree with your point of view nathanjusko. Aikido is a defensive art, not a deadly one. Their are certain MA's that teach techniques that are very dangerous. You can spend all the time in the world training TKD and Karate and if I am bigger and stronger than you, and I have equal skills I will beat you. Than their are MA's that teach you how to over come someone that is bigger and stronger using a weapon or using the person weight against them. If you are not familiar with these artforms and have not experienced beating a larger and stronger opponent, I am making mute point. Yes spending alot of training time is important, as long as you are training in a MA that is realist to real situations and not based in fantasy, that speed and agility will conquer cunning and technique. Your intent is deadly, not the MA.

If your goal is lethality, don't waste your money on martial arts. I mean why spend all that time, effort, and cash to learn all that useless stuff like discipline, self control, honor, and loyalty when all it takes to be lethal is a driver's license? No wonder all the "bloodsports" are so popular. Have we really gotten so far away from this being an "art"? Aside from all that, what does it matter? Do you really think you're capable of killing another human with your bare hands? I don't mean physically, I mean emotionally. I very seriously doubt it. Besides, if by some chance you ever do, are you prepared to justify lethal force? I think not. And what if you fail to justify it? Are you prepared to face the consequences? again, I believe the answer is no.

Better to have prepared rather than repair.

Martial arts were made to kill, to defeat, to win. Any you choose with the right teacher can and will be effective. But if they teach you things that you truly believe would never work in a real fight then walk away and find a better school. I take San Soo and it is very effective, if you stay with that art for long enough you learn to fight in every aspect from all 4 ranges. Kicking, punching, trapping, grappling.

Find an art you truly believe will work, these here are just opinions not facts. I'm sure everyone here is biased to their own art that is why you should just look for an art that incorparates things you like for example...

When someone throws a punch at you would you want to block it or maybe counter it into a punch or kick if you do then some styles like karate or Taekwondo ( correct me if I am wrong ) would work better for you but if you would drather get them into an armbar or flip them then things like BJJ or jujitsu or judo etc. would be good for you, MA's are personal preferences, so choose wisley in the one you take.
