thailand guessed that it will be 5 wins for them and 2 loses.

china guessed 50 50 chance.

the results are

4 wins china and 3 wins thailand.

well from what i heard there were 6 fights and there was a 3 way split.

so what. your point is?

if the sanda fighters won all 6 it would mean the thais aren't very good at throwing, not a big deal in muaythai, and if the thais would have won all 6 so what the sanda guys aren't real good at clinching.

i also heard the reffing wasn't the greatest and that they limited the clinching to next to nothing.

these events prove zilch.

the problem is you are comparing 2 different sports throught martial arts eyes.if you're going to say sanda is better then you might as well hang up your kungfu uniform and buy a pair of speedo's because they wouldn't fair to well in a mma or nhb event.allow choking and locks changes the whole concept.

remember, boxers train to fight boxers, kickboxers train against kickboxers, muaythai trains for muaythai and sanda trains for sanda.

these are sports, not martial arts.

Havoc is somewhat correct. You have to remember that the San Shou guys train like the Thaiboxer do because they realize the effectiveness of Muay Thai style training. San Shou has been very much influenced by the effectiveness of Muay Thai training and technique. Just look at San Shou today as compared to 20 years ago. They were Muay Thai shorts and have a Thai-style stance.

For that San Shou guy to win, I'm pretty sure they concentrated on take-downs and that's how they won. Make it an NHB or MMA event and the results would've been much different. Muay Thai is still acknowledged as King of the Ring.

I have to agree that rules make a big difference when fighting. If you train to fight a certain set of rules, it can be a disadvantage to switch. Reason being is that you have trained yourself to throw certain combinations, and take aways something like elbows or throws it changes one's strategy.

Saying San Shou has been influenced greatly by Muay Thai is a "chicken and egg" argument, same with the training techniques.

As for San Shou fighters having a "Thai-style stance"... not so in the majority of Chinese style fighters. I have also yet to see a San Shou fighter wear Thai Shorts, and even if they did I would assume it is because of the fit, not because they want to emulate Muay Thai...otherwise they would have enrolled in a Thai school.

"King of the Ring?" acknowledged by who? Just a flashy statement like "The Greatest Fighter Ever"....

ken is correct. every ring sport that allows kicking is adopting the thai kick and usually the thai stance as well.and the san shou fighters are wearing thai shorts but this is a non point because the thais adopted the shorts from another ring sport.

the chinese are also bringing in thai trainers to help train their fighters and i hear the reverse is happening as well.

I disagree. No, my point is not to prove any thing is better , I just wanted to share this event with you.

The rules are, NO elbow, and no san shou sweeps, and fighing in the muay thai ring instead of the san shou ring (which is a huge difference).

San Shou stance is more side ways like the boxers and the Muay Thai stance is more of facing your whole body the person. San Shou stance is also more erect then boxers and thai boxer.

There are 7 fighters one each side not 6. They fought only yesterday and I got the chinese newspaper. The results are 4 for china and 3 for thailand.

Thailand offered the fight and got 3 month to get ready and the chinese got 25 days.

Out of the thai fighters are two weight class champion, which weight class? I don't kown.

Also, the light weight chinese got knocked down because the illegal use of elbow. I don't know who won that one thou.
