TJS Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 in Brazilian Jiu jitsu most grappling techniques are legal...
Kyle-san Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 No, you're supposed to avoid any "slamming" techniques, but anything else is perfectly legal.
TJS Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 I was going to pick someone up and slam them once when they had me in a triangle...but since he outweighed me by about 50 pounds it didint work out too well Oh i forgot, small joint manipulation might be frowned upon in some cases.
Terry Bogard Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 uhh well joint locks are part of Jiu Jitsu, and if you dont pick them up and slam then what do you call the Osoto Otoshi, the thing where you lift them up off the ground and slam them back down with your arm on their stomach and come down with them?

A takedown. I was refering to the piledriver kind of move where you pick someone up an purposefully slam them to the ground as hard as you can, not executing a throw or takedown. And, yes, small joint manipulation is frowned on in most schools in terms of tournament rules.
