battousai16 Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 what's a prat? "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
telsun Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 I got this definition from the English-to-American Dictionary: http://english2american.com/dictionary prat n. To call somebody a prat is rather similar to calling them an idiot. It's often meant to mean someone's general attitude than concerning one particular incident - "I met my sister's boyfriend the other day and he seems like a complete prat". Derived, I believe, from a time when the word was slang for your posterior (in a similar way to the more contemporaneous arse) and interestingly from that came the peculiarly American word pratfall, a fall on one's behind. I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
battousai16 Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 ahhhhh, thank you "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Fenris-wolf Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Only just started wearing a gi again -I used to do Seido Karate about 4 years ago and I just started up Judo and Jujitsu. For one thing, I have yet to buy a new gi and so I'm borrowing a club one. But personally it's not a big deal, I've been known to wear it when I'm particularly late or can't find clothes/a bag. But even as a 13-year-old girl you get some weird looks in a gi. Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
Hohan-1 Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Don't jet ski with your gi on! Rei!!! Osu, hahaha! Traditional=EternalNidan, Hakutsurukan
Valithor Posted July 12, 2003 Posted July 12, 2003 What a strange concept to not allow students to wear their gi to and from training! The usual practice for the local dojos in our club is to wear the gi pants with a tv shirt or jacket, and then change when you get to dojo. There are no change rooms, so some people don't like getting changed in front of everyone and wear their full gi to and from training. Having said that, I've often stopped off on the way home at McDonald's or somewhere similar with a group of karateka wearing full gis. It occasionally get some funny looks or comments but karateka shouldn't be bothered by such things. Your gi, and your belt, should be special to you. But they are not holy or sacred items. Our club regularly organises beach-training sessions. Its a whole new experience to do a full class with the waves crashing around you! Keep Smiling!

mArTiAl_GiRl Posted July 12, 2003 Posted July 12, 2003 meh. i do from time to time. i'm with martial girl once again, they are awfully comfortable. Yea!! And, I'm actually wearing my gi every day, I wear it at training, at supermarkets, at shops, at cinemas, but not at the beach of course cuz its too hot. And sometimes, I even hug my gi 30 minutes or more, just because: Oh I love my Gi more than anything or anyone else! *hugs her gi* Kill is love
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted July 12, 2003 Posted July 12, 2003 and I'm not crazy *laughs out loud* Kill is love
