AndrewGreen Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 Nor to many MMA fights. And where the kung fu guys that entered able to stand up? No, they got taken down easily. UFC is far more striking orientated then submission orientated these days. The submission skills work better with no rules and no time limits. Back in the early ones, there where no rules. No biting, no eye gouging, that was it. And those mats benefit the striker, not the grappler who will be the one doing the throw, not recieving it. Then they will be the one on top of you while you are flat on the concrete. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!
TJS Posted May 31, 2003 Author Posted May 31, 2003 Ya - every body fights on mats in an octagon! so Kung Fu huge foucus on takedowns defenses would help them more against wrestlers and Grapplers on hard surface??...the fact is the Mat favors the one getting taken down and unless you are a grappler thats going to be you getting slammed on you head.Look at the list of things you are not alllowed to do at the UFC Look back 5-10 years ago...there were 2 rules..no biting and no eye gouging..Kung Fu had no more succes then than it does now.If you fight with no rules - kung fu will stand up everytime see above..Kung fu never had any succes in the early UFC's...oh wait thats because they couldent bite I wish MMA would get off their high horses and stop criticizing everyone else. go challenge a few fighters to a no rules match...and prove them wrong instead of talking.. Ever heard of the Gracie challenge...you know the guys who have actually been fighting no rules matches the last 50 years ..where are all the masters to take them up on the challenge and beat them?
Tamojin Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 Actually its been my experience in the ring and out that MMA,"shoot" fighters have been beaten by me and my (at the time) yellow sash., while they were some blue, red, or some other belt they earned in a month. Having taken 7 years of jujutsu, 2 years of Tang soo do and now 3 years of seven star I think the chinese arts are deadlier. But i see the Mixed community is as uppity as ever. I suppose we will have to continue finishing you sore losers in the parking lot after we beat you at your own games. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless--like water.
TJS Posted May 31, 2003 Author Posted May 31, 2003 Actually its been my experience in the ring and out that MMA,"shoot" fighters have been beaten by me and my (at the time) yellow sash really, what mma/nhb events have you competed and won in? I suppose we will have to continue finishing you sore losers in the parking lot after we beat you at your own games. Name ONE succesful Kung fu fighter in The last 5 years in a mixed event like UFC,Pride, K-1...dont bother trying because you wont find any..what conisidence....you beat all these "mma" fighters yet kung fu has never been able to produce a single world class fighter.
AndrewGreen Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 Actually its been my experience in the ring and out that MMA,"shoot" fighters have been beaten by me and my (at the time) yellow sash., while they were some blue, red, or some other belt they earned in a month. You fought MMA stylists who had coloured belts? Thats a little odd... Having taken 7 years of jujutsu, 2 years of Tang soo do and now 3 years of seven star I think the chinese arts are deadlier. So you beat MMA practioners with a months training when you have 12 years? Did I misread you on that? So you have 7 years TRADITIONAL japanese So you have 2 years TRADITIONAL Korean So you have 3 years TRADITIONAL Chinese and have decided that Traditional Chinese is better then MMA. It is not the techniques or the styles that are the problem, it is the training methods. All of the styles you have studied use the same sort of training methods.
