Gunfu!

If I were attacked I would defend myself in the most efficiently lethal manner possible. In most instances, this means shoot the (bleep). However, there are times and places when it's not always possible to have a gun with you to shoot the (bleep). So I think it is prudent to know other means of self-defense other than shooting. I guess the issue of whether or not shooting the (bleep) is sufficiently artistic is a separate discussion. If I feel threatened enough that I intend to kill somebody, art will probably be the last thing on my mind at that moment.

Pulling out the firearm in a situation doesn't always mean the trigger will be pulled. That's what a lot of people forget. The intimidation factor is enough to stop many situations without firing a shot.

It's happy hour somewhere in the world.

ZR440, that's actually very correct. According to statistics there are 2.5million crimes prevented by gun-totin' citizens. Approx. 0.09% of those actually involve the citizen shooting the suspect. The rest are prevented by merely brandishing or the threat of deadly force.

If anyone actually wants full statistics on how guns in the hands of citizens are good. Then PM me and I'll provide some links.

I searched and came up with nothing in this forum. Since I just made a reply in another thread qualifying boxing as a martial art by using the definition of martial, I figured this would be appropriate.

The definition of martial from dictionary.com is this:

1. Of, relating to, or suggestive of war.

2. Relating to or connected with the armed forces or the profession of arms.

3. Characteristic of or befitting a warrior.

Therfor, it stands to reason that training with a handgun would be a martial art. So how many of you own or carry a gun? If so, what kind? Do you have a favorite?

I do have a concealed carry permit, but I dont carry. Mainly because you cant take guns into places I frequent, and they can be a liability. However, I do love to shoot. I really like Glocks, and it seems you either love em or hate em. I like the compact 9mm models the most, but the full size models are nice too. Another one of my favorite Glocks is the compact .40 cal. Nice knock down power with a little less kick than a .45. I also like the H&K USP 9mm and .40 cal. I dont generally like .45s because my grouping is never very good.

Guns are a martial weapon and have been so for the better part of a thousand years .

I do carry , especially at work. I work in a gun range / shop by the way.

For the life of me , I cannot understand why some traditional martial artists are against guns , but love swords , bows , nunchucks , etc....

PS . 45acp is the way to go , but 10mm's and 40's work too. lol

:D

Don't become so focused on the weapon that you become castrated.

Go to thunder Ranch in San Antonio TX , or Frontsight near Las Vegas NV .

I find it funny when people talk about how is it is to shoot , especially accurately when they don't even own a gun ! :D

Huh?

I own a Glock 23 (my carry), a WWII Lugar, a Walther P.38, a .22 target revolver (wih pearl handles no less), and a pair of Remington 700 hunting rifles.

I've fired (among other things) a Glock 30 (.45 cal concealable) and it hurt my hand.

About whom are you referring?
