SUKU Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 Greetings! Need information concerning the proper hip and shoulder rotation for boxing(throwing jab, hooks etc.) The more you sweat in training, the less you will bleed in battle. - Motto of Navy Seals
ninjanurse Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 Usually hips and shoulders move together, inline with each other...but this is only my experience with boxing, not a professional statement. The_Ryno Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 Hips and shoulders should rotate in that order. However, there is more involved than just hips and shoulders. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
Ghost Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 remember your feet turn and move as well when throwing punches. Pivot on your lead leg for a left hook and rear leg for a right hook etc.
AmericanKickboxer Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 also, make sure your defensive front leg is in 'sync' with your front arm. -Boxing -Kickboxing -Muay Thai -Brazilian JuijitsuMind is matter, and matter doesn't mind, be-cause matter is in the mind, so mind is over matter.'Have you ever glued broken glass or shells to your hands wrapped in tape....its an experience...
martialartist1 Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 you throw effective punches with whole body and mainly the hip, shoulder muscles. the punches should flow into one efficient movement. there must be use of acceleration into the punch.
