TJS Posted April 13, 2003 Posted April 13, 2003 Look fact of the matter is the BJJ guys are no longer the Champs of UFC, MAA guys are. Cung Le is an amazing fighter and I would like to see him fight in UFC. really what "guys" are champs? Tim sylvia, Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddel, Vanderlai Silva, Antonio rodrigo Noguiera, Carlos newton, BJ penn, matt hughes, murillo Rua,Tank abbot, Frank Mir etc etc etc ..and I could go on forever have all trained in BJJ to some extent.. No stlye has had as much succes a BJJ..now other stlyes are cross training in it and having succes with their own tactics.
Treebranch Posted April 13, 2003 Author Posted April 13, 2003 So basically Martial Artist who cross train are more successful. No one Style is superior. Got it. 1ONEfighting Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 Hey "Ryno", If you think UFC is scripted, GET IN THE RING. You clearly don't know jack about MMA, so don't pretend you do. Trainwreck Tiemeyerwishes he was R. Lee Ermey.
Treebranch Posted April 16, 2003 Author Posted April 16, 2003 I personally don't think it's scripted, but it does have a lot more rules than it used to. I have tapes of the early ones those were awesome. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
1ONEfighting Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 MMA has no more rules than any other competitive martial art. Trainwreck Tiemeyerwishes he was R. Lee Ermey.
Treebranch Posted April 16, 2003 Author Posted April 16, 2003 I never said that, but it was more interesting to me when it had less rules, I still think it's great. TJS Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 I never said that, but it was more interesting to me when it had less rules, I still think it's great. i used to think that but really the rules force fighter to obtain a higher skill level...i mean you can just lay in someone gaurd and headbut them..alot of the tactics they got rid of were not fight enders anyways. but the old ones are fun to watch.
Treebranch Posted April 17, 2003 Author Posted April 17, 2003 Yeah, you have a point about forcing the fighter to obtain a higher skill level. I do like when the ref picks them up and restarts, it is more exciting in that respect. 1ONEfighting Posted April 17, 2003 Posted April 17, 2003 True, I didn't mean to jump on you. I still love the older UFC's, where it was more style vs style. Now everyone is so much more versed in all the aspects of the game that most fighters are interchangable. Trainwreck Tiemeyerwishes he was R. Lee Ermey.
