Toast
Palwgaes are "better" that Taegeuks, since they are more from the stances, then the Taegeuks... Chil Jang is my Jr. Olympic form, awesome at it... <Victory Martial Arts>15 yrs old; 6 yrs in TKD1st Degree Black BeltJr. Olympian | Team USA Qualifier"Train Like A Champion, Fight Like A Warrior"
MichiganTKD
I was always partial to Palgue Yook Jang myself. Pal Jang is pretty good too. My opinion-Welcome to it.
equaninimus
When I did TKD, we did the Chang-Hon and Tae-yucks for gup grades, and the Koryo, etc.. BB forms. I have seen the Palgwes and like them, but apparently Kukkiwon is not in favour of them anymore. Of course, they probably really dislike the Chang Hon set! There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
MichiganTKD
Officially, the Kukkiwon does not sanction the Palgues. Unofficially they are still alive and well, albeit within the older organizations. When our Instructor hosted GM Hae Man Park years ago, he was a little worried because we still did Palgue forms. GM was one of the developers of the Taegeuk forms, which I've never liked. GM Park assured him it was okay to do the Palgue forms. And no, I doubt that the Kukkiwon favors the Chang Hon forms! My opinion-Welcome to it.
MichiganTKD
Ironically, I had a chance to view some of the ITF forms, and realized that we do Chon-Ji for white belt form (albeit with the last two punches high) and then do Palgue forms. Go figure. My opinion-Welcome to it.
