PhilM1 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 how long does it take to get a blackbelt in aikido? fight til you die
Kensai Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 IN the Federation I am in, it takes on average between 3-6 years.
kilo Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 In Karl Geis Aikido you can earn one in a year if you train every day. Or you could just buy one that takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Kendo is like starwars and everyone gets to be Darth Vader."Luke, I am your sensei"

I dont think you should get a black belt in aikido after 1 year...i have heard several people say that they couldent even use it in a fight after 2+ years.
psychospaz Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 learning depends on the teacher-student combo. If you have an awesome teacher and a student who understands concepts, is athletically gifted, has a strong drive to accel in the art, and practices most every day, then why should it take a long time?
Tombstone Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 If you train everyday then I guess it wouldn't take a long time. I've seen 3-6 month camps that train everyday all day and get their belt after the course. I can try to find the link if your interested.
Karateka_latino Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 You know, I asked the same thing to an Aikido sensei once. She answer something like this.."when you become water.you need to move like water in order to be an Aikido stylist, otherwise, you aren't doing Aikido. And that can't be measure by time, it depend on the individual"
