King of Fighters Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 a jab is a quick punch thrown by your leading hand that is ment to keep your oponant away from you, knock him off balance or set up fro a power attack.
Treebranch Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 I would think the most obvious Aikido counter to a Boxer jabbing would be keeping a safe distance and to wait for the Boxer to throw a committed attack. Aikido is all about distance and timing, and waiting for a committed attack. Tombstone Posted April 23, 2003 Author Posted April 23, 2003 OK thanks. I've been wondering how an Aikido student would defend against a jab. Thanks.
martialartist1 Posted May 2, 2003 Posted May 2, 2003 how can a aikido man defend against a jab, well simple aikido man uses defensive techniques that have been practised properly. If aikido stresses defensive techniques and is the idea of a highly rated self defense system then it should be kept that way as best as possible when fighting other martial arts styles.
