Fenris-wolf Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 muay thai? underestimated? you have got to be joking... its the most overestimated art that i have ever heard of Just to sound like a parrot; how is it overestimated?? Anyway, I think he meant underestimated as in not seen as a "real" MA by a lot of martial artists. A kind of snobbery, I guess. Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
kajukenbo dad Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Thanks again..............Great pictures too...Good Luck Practice is the best of all instructors...
Radok Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Just a quick question, is the side kick nonexistant or just rarely used in Muay Thai? If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
Synaesthesia Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Radok, I was wondering that myself. At any rate, I train the side kick to some extent despite being in Muay Thai. I like targetting the leg with it.
TJS Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Just a quick question, is the side kick nonexistant or just rarely used in Muay Thai? The side kick is not used in traditional Muay Thai..MT uses a square stance so it is not practical...the only time a sidekick would be used is if you miss a round kick or something and spin around.. it is taught it just is not used much...most prefer the front teep kick because it's more practical front a MT stance.
