G95champ Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 If Howard Stern came to me for lessons you bet I would teach him. Talk about bringing in people to your club. LOL. I don't doubt he is a brown belt. Being in NY and with his fame he can have access to that. I would also say he is a pretty decent brown belt. WHY because he is in the spot light so much no one is going to give him one. If he said he was a 5th Dan thats a differant story but frankly anyone can make a brown belt much less a black belt. Don't really mean a whole lot as far as how much you know. Im glad to see a person with his star power into MA much less a traditional art like Shotokan. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
HachiKyu Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Yeah i would have to with he probably bought the belt i mean as far as him being creditied i mean look at him hes like fat un-athletic and just i dont know lazy thats not to say that some one who is un-athletic cant be a brown belt in any martial art system im sure the instructor says something along the lines of anyone can do martial arts no matter their shape, size, race, sex etc. etc. i mean i could beat him down but i guess my experience in toher arts such as kung fu gives me that extra experience and sometimes the upper hand in free sparring. jmy77 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 WOW! Are you serious... I'm with hobz and hobbit and everyone else who gives people the benefit of the doubt... Why couldn't he be a brown belt? Why do you all automatically assume A) he is F.O.S. and B) you could beat him down.... Have you ever seen him fight? As far as him a being fat and unathletic are you using his MTV Fartman appearence? How old is that clip of video? Is it because he is a celebrity? Honestly what if it were Mel Gibson? Or Brad Pitt? or Ed Norton or Jamie Fox? Would you believe them? HachiKyu Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Im not saying that he cant be a brwon belt im saying he doesnt have much credability to back him up he has no crudentials to his art... also i mean mel gibson or brad pitt i mean you can see them fighting i mean they have been in films in which they trained for certain action scenes so they have a more crediable source to back them up, I was not saying that he couldnt be a brown belt i was just saying im skeptic that is all and im not referring to him as fart man on MTV as he was then but as he is now i mean my cousin watches him all the time and never misses a show so i mean its not like i havent watched a recent epsidoe on his TV show.. B: I would have an easier time believing Stern as a karateka than Mel gibson or Brad Pitt! There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
hobz Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Well, I can't say I have proof that Stern is in shape, because I have only heard of him, never seen him since I am canadian. Brad Pitt is pretty ripped, so as a fighter, I could buy it. Last time I checked Mel Gibson was middle aged and out of shape Rule #1: Play the game to the limit. Damn the consequences.

tommarker Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 I know plenty of fat old men who whip on skinny 18 year old prime-of-their-life dojo princesses on a regular basis Physical appearance is a poor indicator of martial arts knowledge. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
