TJS
yes! thank you! more more more! this is a great art thats been verbaly abused to much, im sure sensai Funakoshi is rolling in his grave after all the work he did ridiculed, he needs a bigger cheerleading squad, come on all you shotokan practioners, if this style is so popular i know your out there, lets go! Fireka-Im not trying ot be rude or bash but Muay Thai has been able to compete at the top levels of every serious mixed fighting event..You would be hard pressed to find a single fighter from Shotokan Competing in an Event like K-1. Although I admire you willingness to test your stlye, Some of the greatest fighters in the world have Traveled to Thailand to test their styles, unfortuantly very very few have been succesful the only ones to my knowladge to win a challenge match was Mas Oyama and a few of his students. Kyokushin still comptes at top levels today against muay thai in K-1. you cant say the same for Shotokan

No Itosu Sensei is rolling in his grave! He taught Funikoshi something and Funi turned around and corrupted it. He did not make Shorin-ryu any better. He made it his so he would be remebered, that is why he made the pointless changes to the katas.

SaiFightsMS
Itosu preceded the so called styles. He was taught by Matsumura who was trained in the shuri tradition. It was called tode at the time.

fireka
yes, im not about to sign up for k-1 now, at this point many five year olds could beat the crap out of me im just saying one day. I have the FIRE to defeat my opponets, and i seem to learn very quickly, i think if nothing more can be said, i will be a good fighter someday. I will do my best to prove my arts strength and that these terrible things being said about it are all false, ill prove that with my fist. Because one thing ive learned from this forum is its stupid to sit around and talk about one styles superiority to another, the only real way is for YOU not some random fighter, to jump in the ring and prove it. Im sure you can agree with me. But belive me, i will be in K-1, its funny you bring it up because when i started the martial arts my dream was to compete in K-1.
