three60roundhouse Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 One thing I love about grappling is meeting martial artists/athletes from other schools and disciplines and comparing their skills. It's so amazing to me that I'm only a white belt in jiu-jitsu, but can hold my own against grapplers from other styles, while my brother who does freestyle wrestling can kick my butt from here to Japan! What grappling disciplines do you study "formally" (as in a rank )? What other grappling sports do you play? Do you crosstrain in any other arts? I am a white belt (two stripes) in BJJ. I recieved my stripes from Royler Gracie. I also enjoy "no-gi" (submission wrestling) although I haven't had as much expwerience with that. My brothers are on a wrestling team, so I like to pick up stuff from them, and I cross-train in tae kwon do. I have also taken muay thai classes, and when I get older (and can DRIVE) I would love to take that up as well, along with maybe boxing! I'm interested in many different aspects of fighting, as you can see! 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
Karateka_latino Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 Just don't let anyone to punch too hard your pretty face. lol!
Kensai Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 360 my BJJ Nemsis has RETURNED!? Good to see you back. As for grappling, I do the KING grappling style of JUDO! As well as doing my passion of Aikido. My rank is in my sig.
Venezolano Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 King of grappling styles? lol, yeah sure... three60roundhouse congrats, i think it's great you can compare them and learn useful things and incorporate them in your game how much do you have training BJJ? iam about 5 months Valencia - Venezuela.
BagelFighter Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 ive got about 4/5 months of experience, lol also 2 stripes (just got it tonight...). I get wrestling lessons from my dad (wrestling team all of highschool and college), which i gotta say is a great help. (Chicken wings and stuff are great when you have em in your guard...requires great leg muscles to hold em there though). heh i do the whole kickboxing thing myself, which i find is the best combination.....it seems natural after kneeing someone to go to the guillotine. Lol kickboxing even has take downs.
Cyph Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 We do some greco wrestling, Judo (not much). If you consider no gi another 'grappling sport' I do a lot of that and some MMA. I cross train in boxing & muay thai as well.
yellowsnow Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 I do kickboxing and bjj...no rank in bjj...still a white belt...gunna change to both gi/no gi grappling though..so I can hopfully try a more pankration/nhb type fighting style/training.. I hope to get a blue belt in BJJ one day though..actualy, i hope just to get a strip on my white!! lol...
