Sepultura Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 I bet alot of u have been into kyokushin or know abt this specific style, what do u think abt it and how it is different to other japanese arts.
TJS Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 it's diffrent because they fight full contact. Kyokushin has been the only stlye of Karate that has been able to compete in the top levels of Mixed events Like K-1 kickboxing. Kyokshin has also Fought Muay Thai fighters From Thailand and has won in more than one occasion, thats more than anyone else can say. As far as standup fighting is concerned Kyokushin is defiently up there on the list. Kyokushin+Wester boxing and you have a deadly combination. Just goes to show the best fighters in the world are the ones who train full contact..and thats a fact.
Karateka_latino Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Oh it's a great style for fighting, specially if you like full contact action. I'll give you a link in which you get more info about Kyokushin Karate https://www.kyokushinmail.com
Thorminator Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Just wanted to add: I practise Kyokushin Budo Kai, wich is Kyokushin + grappling + throws ++. The idea was to make a perfect "All round" fighting style, a mixture of almost any style. We think that if a technique is good, we adapt it, no matter where it comes from (boxing, kung fu, TKD...) To me, it's a great way of life! I DO BU DO!
kle1n Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I must disagree in the fact that good fighters only come from a full contact martial art. Be everything. Be nothing.
TJS Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 (edited) I must disagree in the fact that good fighters only come from a full contact martial art. Why would someone who is used to getting hit hard, used to hitting resisting opponets hard, and someone who has refined their techniques to be efficent in a real fight not be better equiped then someone who has never been in a full contact fight? A full contact fighter will always be better prepared for a fight. Edited April 2, 2003 by TJS
BKJ1216 Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Alright I'm getting confused here. What if they sparr? Woulnd't that count as full contact? White Belt- Shudokan Karate
