Tobias_Reece Posted September 1, 2001 Posted September 1, 2001 Hi all This is probably a long shot but... Does anybody know what the kobudo kata Shu-shi-no-kon means. Obviously "no-kon" means that the kata uses the staff, but I dont know what the first bit means. I know, I know, I should know C ya "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. moobrack Posted September 2, 2001 Posted September 2, 2001 One of my friends told me that it means the swaying of the staff but I don't think he is right. Anthony Bullock1st Dan Black Belt - Shotokan Karate5th Kyu Yellow Belt - Aiki-Jutsuhttps://www.universaldojo.com Coming Soon
Tobias_Reece Posted September 2, 2001 Author Posted September 2, 2001 Most kobudo katas are names after the person who created them eg. the sai kata Matsumura-no-Zai. However, Shu-shi-no-kon weas created by Master Chinen, not Master Shu-Shi. I think Tae did kobudo, but shes gone now Oh well "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. Goose Posted September 2, 2001 Posted September 2, 2001 Hi Sensei Tobias, Sensei Dave Wilkins (former student of the late Steve Cattle) practises Kobudo under the watchful eye of Julian Mead (former friend of Steve Cattle). Here's the addresses for both of their websites. https://www.leicesterkarateclub.co.uk This is the Website belonging to Sensei Dave Wilkins. https://www.rkagb.com This is Julian Meads Website. Maybe they can help. _________________ Best Wishes Darryl Garrick 9th Kyu Shotokan Karate Karate International Black Belt Schools (UK) [ This Message was edited by: Goose on 2001-09-02 14:00 ] [ This Message was edited by: Goose on 2001-09-02 14:01 ] Goose6th Kyu Shotokan Karate9th Kyu Okinawan KobudoKarate International Black Belt Schools (UK)
