Drunken Monkey Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 i wasn't talking about the old hk films he's dpne. i was refereing to the films that were made before he was born. by technique in films i mean 'real' moves. not stuff tht looks good but would have no real 'impact'. if the film is going to have lots of flapping around then i rather watch the old stuff. at least the forms look good and i can have fun trying to think of what the movement REALLY means. i mean, if you've seen one jump in the air, swirling leg thing, you've seen them all.... back to fist of legend. i really would like to know how much of it was down to jet li and how much of was down to yuen wo ping and his crew? you guys have to remember, most of the fights scenes in the hk (in fact nearly all) flicks are basically dances set up by a choreographer. all the actor has to do is learn the sequence. if a fight scene looks good, much of the credit should go to the choreographer. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Martial Boy Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Well, bruce lee is very good so is jackie these movies teach you alot of self-defence some other works best.
G Money Slick Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Steven Seagal(Aikido) Jet-Li (kung-fu) Chuck Norris(Tang Soo Do) Jackie Chan(Wushu and Wing Chun) Jean Claude Van Damme (Shotokan/Ballet) If your enemy refuses to be humbled......you must destroy him.
RussellC Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 I would have to say that my all time fav is Bruce But for the new time Jet li is pretty awsome. I've never been found of Jacki Chan, Nothing Personal. True mastery transcends any particular art. It stems from mastery of ones self control the ability, developed through self discipline, to be calm, fully aware, and completely in tune with ones self and the surroundings. Then, and only then, can a person know himself. ---- Bruce Lee
kle1n Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Steven Seagal - for his high skill. Chuck Norris - for his high skill. Bruce Lee - no need to explain. Be everything. Be nothing.
TheDevilAside Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Jackie Chan.. he's the best entertainer. Plus, sure.. his acrobatic martial arts moves will never work on the "street".. but they're very original and fun to watch. "If you're going through hell, keep going." - Sir Winston Churchill
battousai16 Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 y'know, i love jackie chan. i love him a lot. i indiscriminately grab any movie that he's in. but i gotta' say, i can't help but notice that his best movies (aside from drunken master ) are the ones with sammo hung and yuen biao in them. they're just awsome together, and yuen biao was hilarious in "dragons forever". "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Shorin Ryuu Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Jackie Chan!!!!! Jackie Chan!!!! I like him because he doesn't take himself too seriously. I liked Jet Li's movies better when he didn't take himself seriously (like Fong Sai Yuk, which could have easily been a Jackie Chan Movie or the once upon a time in china movies) except for Fist of Legend, I liked that one. But I think Jackie is the best, it is too bad he is getting older, but he's got my respect. Who will replace him, I wonder? Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
torris Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 uhm, Chuck Norris studies TKD. In fact, Allen Steen (Jhoon Rhey's 1st American BB) defeated Chuck Norris in 1966 for the IKC title. (Please, correct me if I am wrong) But, anyway, I like Chuck. He is a great role model for the Arts. I really don't like Van Damme, but his style is good. Jackie Chan is one of my tops, because his style, and he is so **** funny. But, my favorite movie star is S. Seagal. I am very impressed with his style.
