devilthaiboxer Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 help i have a grading in a few days and i have to do jiyu kumite(freestyle sparring) ive only done little bits of sparring before and im very worried because i do really badly at them.I am to defendsive and can never seem to get any attacks in especially with my legs which are my strongest asset.Im practicing to improve my speed but i need help seeing openings andhow to take the fight to my opponent. I'd quote bruce lee but to me he's just another person who got lucky

theswarm Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 earlier on it's hard 'not to think about it' so a good idea i think is to at home practice a few sets of combos make them up so you feel comfortable with them work on getting in attacking, then getting out after a while your sets of combos will become ingrained in your muscle memory and you'll just do them without thinking about it
