Tombstone Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 I've been training and fighting NHB with the hopes of going pro. I've done a few events and was champ at my gym for awhile but I'm getting bored with it. I stopped going for about a week and now I'm questioning whether or not to go back. It stopped being fun. Now I'm seeing it as being rather pointless. Sorry but this post doesn't really have a meaning. Noones awake at the moment and I just needed to tell someone.
Dober Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Get into a street fight. White Belt - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Tombstone Posted March 31, 2003 Author Posted March 31, 2003 I live in the country and I dont go to school anymore. My days of fighting are basicly over.
ramymensa Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Have you considerred teaching? It would occupy your time. Still I think you want to fight and teaching is not that thrilling for a man of action World Shotokan Karate
monkeygirl Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 It's possible that your tastes have just changed. It happens. Maybe this means you should try something new. However, this could just be a slump. We all get burned out sometimes...believe me! Competition can get boring after awhile, especially if you win all the time, which is what it sounds like. Warm yourself up with some training, and seek out some competition! All it takes is getting the snot kicked out of you ONCE to get inspired to train again 1st dan & Asst. Tombstone Posted March 31, 2003 Author Posted March 31, 2003 Thanks for the replies. I'm taking a month or so off then I might go back. I might even start going to a new gym.
Maestro Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 I agree with monkeygirl. Try to find a gym with somebody who can kick the crap outta ya. Might as well take my advice--I don't use it anymore.
G95champ Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 Fighting for the sake of sport IMO is pointless. Now thats not to say I don't love a good boxing match, UFC, or street fight. LOL However the true Martial Artist will realize their is a much bigger picture than just beating another person up. MA should be used to better yourself and help others. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."

No one traines harder than someone preparing for a fight, fighters are extremly motivated in most cases and have the desire to go above and beyond, it forces you to expand and better yourself to stay above the competition. for that reason i would have to think the exact opposite..
