CloudDragon Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 ninjitsu is the art of stealth, the ability to remain undetected. Jujitsu is an art of joint locks and throws. A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!
matt jiujitsufighter Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 WRONG, jujutsu and ninjutsu are almost exactly the same, a little boxing, a little wrestling, a little muay thai, and a lot of jiujitsu( brazilian)
stl_karateka Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 WRONG, jujutsu and ninjutsu are almost exactly the same,Care to elaborate? My first instinct would be to agree with CloudDragon, but thats based just on what I've heard, not on experience with either of those arts KarateForums.com Sempai
matt jiujitsufighter Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 ok sure, i have an 8th kyu rank in ninjutsu and i have also trained in traditional jujutsu along with the ninjutsu, they are almost identical, in comparison of wristlocks, throws, takedowns and striking, the weapons fighting might be a bit different a little boxing, a little wrestling, a little muay thai, and a lot of jiujitsu( brazilian)
Treebranch Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 Yes, Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu or Ninjutsu as we know it today is basically Jujutsu, old Jujutsu. It's basically 6 schools of Jujutsu and 3 schools of Ninjutsu that make up Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu or Ninjutsu. The Ninjutsu ideals kind of permeates into the Jujutsu so the Jujutsu is a little different in some ways to TJJ. Some of the Kamaes or stances to my knowledge are different from TJJ. I hope that helps. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"

Kyle-san Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 but i do know for a fact that JJ do not teach people how to jump from high places like a tree. Neither does any legit Ninjutsu school you'll find.

No offense, but ninjas mostly aren't really like in the movies, jumping from tree to tree and whatnot. They usually snuck in by the traditional routes, through the window, cellar, whatever. Treebranch Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 The 3 Ninjutsu schools of Budo Taijutsu do teach leaping, climbing trees with the aid of hand claws, running up trees, or up hill and what not. They teach rolling which is a big part of Budo Taijutsu which include dive rolls and such. I rather enjoy the rolls and leaps and they do play part in defending and evading. Also leaps and rolls kind of go hand in hand and are taught for purposes of escaping a dangerous situation, etc.. Ninjas had to be pretty agile, especially the ones that were spies and assassins. They were stealthy and agile in order to be able to escape or flee without being noticed, just like a modern day Navy Seal or Special Forces types. It really depends on the school and what it's focus is.
