Hi,

I recived an offer yesterday. An Instructor, 6th Dan Black belt in Goju ryu karate asked if i'd like to be part of his "Intensive Instructor's Program" that is going to start in about two more weeks.

I had an interview with him, He show me his credentials, Belt Certificates, Affiliantions, etc, etc... the paper work.

The thing is, i already trained in Karate and Taekwondo, so he'll teach me and take me to the Assistant Instructor level to help him with a Schools he'll open next year. He already have a school operating but he wants to expand the bussiness.

The Program includes: Traditional Okinawan Goju ryu Karate, Chi Kung, Basic Japanese language, Body Guards training programs, shiatsu massage, Teory of how to run a bussiness, how to teach adults, Childrens, Rape Prevention, Self Defense (This programs include techniques of other arts he's trained surch as Wing Chun, Kali, Judo, jiu-jitsu,etc..).

what do you think?

Yes, I like to teach, I think you can learn even more when you teach. Take you to another level of understanding anything you teach.

About the money. I'll have to sign a Contract in which i agree to attend the classes, i don't have to pay for this classes, just for the belt test that are going to be 3 (green,Brown,Black). Then after i reach the Instructor level. He'll open a School for me in a place we both agree. I'll be Not forced to move to wherever he wants to open the school, No. He'll try to open the School in a place confortable for both of us. Then I'll teach, I'll get paid a % That's yet to be discussed and the other % and the test fees are for him. After the Contract is over. I'll be free to stay with him or leave.

He says, we want his organization to be Strong so he'll do anything so we all grow together.

Now, Im not a friend of Contracts, but this one i think its, Fair.

Besides, its not a McDojo type of contract. It's just a way to be sure the people won't leave after they get the training for free and he gives them the Black Belt. lol!

He was also showing me a letter for the HeadQuaters Organization President in Okinawa in which they both agree the student exchange so we'll have the chance to go to Okinawa and train under the HeadMaster.

Oh and i forgot to say. I think i'll be the only 100% civilian in the class. lol!

Since the Focus of his Schools are going to be the Martial Arts and Combat training, and the Sport side is going to be focused for childrens and teenagers, my "classmates" are going to be Policemans, security guards, bodyguards, former soldiers, etc.. lol

hkf, the reason they talk about money is that it is important. It is difficult to do a good job teaching if you are starving, or even if you just get to the point you feel you're being taken advantage of. It takes money to run a school. It takes money to live. It takes money to continue to develope your interests. There is nothing wrong with asking a fair price for your time and effort, and there is also nothing wrong with the person providing training and capital insureing a return on his investment. Just because money is involved doesn't mean the people aren't dedicated. I'm not slamming you. Just pointing out the realities of life.

Freedom isn't free!
