BKJ1216 Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 That's kind of bad. I really am staying away from all soda now after I heard abou the aspartame thing. Besides I don't think they need to be drinking coke, they need water. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
monkeygirl Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 Coke offers PowerAde, tea, Dasani water, and Fruitopia as well as Coke. A dojo could choose to put nothing but water in the machine, if they wished. If Coke reaches their goal, they will become a national sponsor of NAPMA...maybe that means their conferences will be a little cheaper 1st dan & Asst. BKJ1216 Posted March 26, 2003 Author Posted March 26, 2003 I dont' think coke is a wise choice anyway. Because coke always makes me burp like alot. That would be one loud dojo. White Belt- Shudokan Karate

Besides I don't think they need to be drinking coke, they need water. From my understanding, Aspartame is only in diet soft drinks, and not all diet sodas have the Aspartame. Diet Rite (by the people that make RC Cola) uses a new sweetener called Splenda...it's a low-calorie, carb-free sweetener that is made from sugar, so it tastes like sugar. It's processed or something. Tastes much better than that saccharine/aspartame taste. Also, if you're worried about aspartame causing cancer, the highest risk is when it's used under high temperature, like baking. That's also why Splenda is great, it can be baked. Although, I'd still be worried about Aspartame no matter what the temperature. Ramymensa: good to see another optimistic soul! I agree that a trial-and-error sort of thing will probably happen, but isn't that just life? People go through many different kinds of one thing before settling on one kind or nothing at all....banks, food, sports, colors, technology, jobs, accuntants, music, etc. It's only natural that martial arts fit in there, too. 1st dan & Asst. And also I'm more worried about the thing where when it gets over 86 degree it like makes it bad and you can develope methanol toxicity, but they mis diagnose it to...uhh crap I gotta read that article again. I know that so far it has killed a lot of people, mostly diabetics though. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
ninjanurse Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 I'm lost! Did we jump threads here? I'll answer here...just because! I think that Americans put way too much chemicals and crap in their mouths period. We would be a lot healthier society if people would eat whole foods and take care of their bodies. Unfortunately people think that there is a pill to cure anything and pretty much abuse their bodies to the point of illness. Then they get P.O.'s when the health care system can't fix them immediately. As far as diet sodas go....yes nutrasweet is a toxic chemical and there are other ways to satisfy your sweet tooth that are less damaging, but may require a little more self-control to avoid overdoing. I will now get off my soap box. Thank you! "A Black Belt is only the beginning."Heidi-A student of the artsTae Kwon Do,Shotokan,Ju Jitsu,Modern Arnishttp://the100info.tumblr.com/
