Kyle-san Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 hello there i want to know how can i learn all the moves like scorpion on mortal kombat right now i was learning boxing but wasn't my type but i want to learn the best there is In the latest game his "art" was listed as Hapkido. But, um, you aren't even going to be able to learn moves like his because he's a video game character.
delta1 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 If you want something that will compliment any martial art, and want to seriously improve your speed, as well as your reaction time, try Tai Chi Chuan fa (martial Tai Chi). I hear some of you laughing, but I'm serious. Speed comes with relaxation, and TCC will teach that better than anyting I know of. Omnifinite is also correct in that any of the kenpo/kempo styles I've heard of teach speed. And they teach the main principle of speed is relaxation. Freedom isn't free!
TheSod_88 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 to scorpion: stick w/ the boxing and u won't be dissapointed. but if u are set on doing something else or adding to it, i heavily suggest Muy Thai. serioulsy, its fast.
theswarm Posted April 1, 2003 Author Posted April 1, 2003 i'd love to do Tai chi chuan, im certainly not laughing you guys use swords don't you?
delta1 Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Yes, Tai Chi Chuan uses swords at more advanced levels. I'm still a begginer, so I havn't got into any of the sword forms. Freedom isn't free!
Kaju_influenced Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 delta said Yes, Tai Chi Chuan uses swords at more advanced levels. I'm still a begginer, so I havn't got into any of the sword forms. That is true however u do not have to be at a such high level to begin sword forms. Tai chi is very much an excellent complementary style to improve on ur health, speed ,balance and coordination. "Sweat more in the dojo, bleed less in the street"Kajukenbo fighters axiom.
theswarm Posted April 3, 2003 Author Posted April 3, 2003 my main emphasis like I've said is being able to increase the movement speed and flexibility of my body (I already get these benefits from my current school but I feel like getting the same benefit from another school might help a bit...also help me mix up my fighting style a bit more) ok so body speed... but I'm also interested in doing forms - I like doing them, and I'm interested in weapons - and am fascinated by the sai and the bo surprisingly I live in a big city, but even with that it's pretty hard for me to find schools at the moment i'm looking at kobudo but the only problem is the only kobudo schools in my yellow pages are cross with other schools one is 'hontai yoshin ryu ju jutsu & kobudo' (at a place that's pretty far from me) the other one is a Okinawan GoJu Ryu Karate-Do/Kobudo school which i doubt you can do seperately, this one is heaps close to me but the problem is the style of karate i've been studying for the past year is pretty similar to Goju... this style of Kung Fu i'm interested in http://www.tigerandcrane.com.au/ (which seems to be based on Hung Gar? ) as well as iwama ryu style aikido (how early in aikido do you learn the bo or the jo?) i was looking at https://www.kendo.com.au - who has iaido...then i realized the iaito was 1,100 dollars WTF?!?! and looking at the equipment...jebus that stuff is expensive... so i can rule that one out... i'm also interested in Wu Shu but I can't find any schools
