theswarm Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 to use in compliment with karate (not to confuse me) I want to do something that has fast body movements, I want to improve my speed. I also want something that has alot of forms (so possibly some form of kung fu) and *maybe* something with weapons does aikido have many forms? I've been having trouble finding Shaolin kung fu schools in my area
Kaju_influenced Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Thats a very good idea i would sugest some king of nother based gung fu or whatever u can find. I ve done choylayfut gung fu for about 5 yrs and there have been more than enough forms in that but i also did some regional capoeira which i find gave me extrordinary balance and fast movements, but its all up to u "Sweat more in the dojo, bleed less in the street"Kajukenbo fighters axiom.
omnifinite Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 I'd suggest Kempo, but it may be so similar to Karate that it could feel redundant. 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu
theswarm Posted March 27, 2003 Author Posted March 27, 2003 does capoueira have forms? I've found some capoueira schools maybe I'll do that? I was wondering if someone doing aikido can let me know about aikido forms?
TJS Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 does capoueira have forms? I've found some capoueira schools maybe I'll do that? I was wondering if someone doing aikido can let me know about aikido forms? Aikido does not have forms and capoiera is not really the best choice if your looking for self defense/fighting. i would suggest a grappling art if you do karate..something like BJJ/judo/sambo etc.
xXxscorpionxXx Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 hello there i want to know how can i learn all the moves like scorpion on mortal kombat right now i was learning boxing but wasn't my type but i want to learn the best there is
theswarm Posted March 28, 2003 Author Posted March 28, 2003 i'm not looking necessarily to complete my art with groundfighting grappling although i might decide to I just really want an art that will encourage me to be extremely fast with my body (like i've heard shaolin kung fu does and the taijutsu in aikido does). plus i like doing forms/katas.
omnifinite Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 Kempo certainly encourages you to be fast. Someone here said something once that stuck with me... if Shotokan is a cannon, Kempo is a machine gun. 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu
