Anzie Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 If you applied a choke on someone for too long? On the average person, how long time untill he faints? And what choke would be considered most "lethal"? Personally I prefer the guilotine-choke (unsure about spelling). Grappling enthusiast!Shootfighting as well.
TJS Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 Rear naked choke is proabably the most effective, i think it takes about 8 seconds to choke someone out if it's applied correctly. not sure how long you have to hold it after that to kill someone but you definety can.
BKJ1216 Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 Well there are like two veins that carry blood to the head, I think if you block those off for 6 seconds it's suposed to render them unconcious. That's what my book says though. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
craknek Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 According to the USMC, and other military authorities, as well as research, when a choke is applied correctly, it will about 5 seconds for the person to black out. Amazing isnt it? That quick. Juko Kai trains you to fight through that though. I was watching a show on Discovery, that showed Juko Kai Style MA, and they wraped a rope around a guys neck... and both of the people pulled back with all there weight... basically strangling the guy.. but they are trained to increase there neck strength and to focus... and much to my dis-belief.. this guy did not pass out after 5 seconds, instead he DRAGGED them for about 15 yards before they stopped. LOL.. AMAZING. Nick "A man can fail many times, but a man is not a failure until he blames someone else""I will not fear...Fear is the mind killer...I will let my fear pass right through me..." Dune.
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 I would have to say the rear-naked choke can be applied rather quickly and its very difficult to excape. Even when on the street. when you notice the guy is not resisting anymore, let go and run, because you don't want to cause any permanent damage. Anzie Posted March 26, 2003 Author Posted March 26, 2003 Pardon me for asking this newbie-question, but briefly, what does a rear naked-choke look like? Is it when you lie on top of the guy and have his throat resting in your arm? Like.. an upside-down guilotine? Grappling enthusiast!Shootfighting as well.
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 no its looks like a ," cobra choke" or a "lion choke" go to https://www.bjj.org go to the techniques section, and you will find it there. JohnnyS Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 It would take about 4-5 minutes to kill someone with a choke, and that's a long time to hold on. I was told about 9 seconds but it varies. If someone is watching TV and you choke them it will take the full 8-9 seconds. If they are drunk and fighting (and their body is in oxygen-debt) then it sometimes only takes about two seconds to pass out. Craknek, I'd be sceptical about anything with Juko Kai - they are not very well respected and make many false claims. Also, neck strength will not help you avoid the choke. The bigger the neck the better it is to choke. BJJ - Black Belt under John Will (Machado)Shootfighting - 3rd Degree Black BeltTKD - Black Belt
