BKJ1216 Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 I've noticed that this stance is different in many styles. Can someone help me find the goju-ryu, and shudokan version? White Belt- Shudokan Karate
hobbitbob Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 The USA-NKF on their website has a thing that shows standards for stances in the "big four." http://www.usankf.org There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
BKJ1216 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 Yeah but it does not have shudokan, or goju-ryu for that matter. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
hobbitbob Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Actually, if you look at the site, it does inded have goju-ryu. There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
BKJ1216 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 it dosn't have the goju-ryu version of Zenkutsu-Dachi White Belt- Shudokan Karate
SaiFightsMS Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Basically the only difference in zenkutzu dachi from style to style is how deep the stance is.
BKJ1216 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 Well I've noticed that the way the arm and the angle of the foot differs from a lot of the styles presented on that site. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
hobbitbob Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 it dosn't have the goju-ryu version of Zenkutsu-Dachi[/quoteI hate to be a bother, but I again must ask: Did you actually look at the site? I just looked at it again to double check. it's there.. watch the sample kata for Goju-ryu. They do Zenkutsu dachi. That just MIGHT be it. Stop acting like a Republican! There have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm!
BKJ1216 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 *sigh* I'm talking about he pictures. You know the 360 degree images. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
theswarm Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 ours is pretty deep 2 shoulder widths wide - back leg completely straight but the foot is bent to 1-2 o'clock the depth in the stance comes from the front knee being bent to almost completely 90 degrees (although i have seen some variance on this) the knee pushed out (IE if you're front knee is left then you should push your knee left with your toes pointed in a little your hips should be square to the front and your guard up
