Now, MT is an awesome art, partly in part to the tremoundous amounts of physical conditioning they do. If you would take someone, from lets say TKD, and condition his shins to be like iron, and condition his feet much like Iron Palm trainin... That would be just as dangerous.... Kicks are Kicks.. no matter if its from MT or TKD.

no, why despite the biggest talent pool of any style has TKD not produced 1 single fighter that can compete at the top levels?

if thats all it takes then someone would have done it, alot is in the training but not all.

So, your telling me that there is more then thai shin conditioning that seperates it from other MA's? To get the amount of shin conditioning that many Thai Boxers have.. takes a very long time as you already know TJS. Over in Thailand, my frined from the Navy went to watch alot of the local Thai Fights. He said that alot of fights ended up with the kickers kicking shin to shin, seeing who would give up first... but alot of emphasis is played onto there shin strength etc etc.... something that not everyone wants to do or could do. I cant imagine punishing my body, shins etc etc like they do, and having to get up and go to work the next day lol.. in thailand, when they train, that is there work.

Now, if there is more to the devestating kicking power of Thai boxer, I want to know. I always like researching new information.

Well Cracknek i did say at the same skill level but i guess that would make the outcome obvious.

Kickboxing doesnt kick the legs its waist up only.

And MT guys do punch as well as boxers. I do MT and one of the guys at my club is a sparring partner for Lenox Lewis. ALso we can all pucch with the boxers and some compete in amatuer and pro boxing as well as Thai Boxing even though they only do MT.

Ninjamaster,

Do not draw the comparsion that since one guy you know can spar with lennox lewis all MT can be boxers. Yea, your right, alot of MT and kickboxers start doing amateur boxer, wanna know why you dont ever see them on PPV's, or on the ranking ladders, or on TV... because there not good at it. Sure, they may be able to make a small name for themselves in the junior amateur circuit, but there is where they will stay. In fact, Most Kickboxers and MT guys dont even do that well there.

Hold on now.

I am well aware that TKD in general and in tournaments do not use shins... you are thinking about tournament rules... If push came to show, and I did shin conditioning, I would hit with my shins as well as my feet in Real fights.

My question to you is this.. IF I were to lets say condition my shins like they do, and kick people, would it not hurt? Would it not be effective? Yes, it would. The arguement I am making here TJS, is that the main thing that does make MT so devestating is, YES, the conditioning of there bodies that they do and how often they do it, which is hard to do in itself. Instead of doing forms or katas, there making there bodies hard.

You can tell me all day long, theres more to it then that... but what more could there be? Why else would a Shin kick from a MT boxer hurt more then a kick from a karate guy... SHIN conditioning. Hey man, I am not looking to say that is all they have, the style itself is very aggresive, Im just asking, if I was to worry myself with condition my shins (which I wont), would my kicks be as painful then?

You said that there is more to it then just that, so I would like to hear some information, as I said, I enjoy learning new things.

First off you putting to much empasiz on the shin conditioning, they dont really make their shins harder, although they do get callous somewhat they do it so they dont feel the pain when they kick...anyone can shin kick it's just going ot hurt like hell if it gets blocked.

second Muay Thai kicks are complety diffrent from TKD kicks, the best analogy i have heard is this

TKD=whip/wet towel snap

Muay thai=swinging a baseball bat

TKD kicks are designed for a snap with speed and control, muay thai kicks are designed to penetrate

so even if you used your shin in a tkd kick it would not be the same, would it hurt? sure, does any kick? yes but Muay thai kicks are notoriously brutal..

the only way to achive the same result is to kick like them, and then you are not doing tkd.

so if you changed to a MT stance and change all the kicks to MT stlye then yes they would be equally effective...but thats not TKD now is it?
