jiu-jitsu fighter
This past weekend , I was downtown with a few f riends ,around 5, and there we were walking down the street, just us ,the street was empty than this other group of guys around 10 of them, approaches us and starts to argue with a friend of mine. (they wante to start a brawl), seeing as how my friends are, at least 2 of them would have ran, leaving 3 of us to fight a group of 10 guys( approx 18-19) and im 17. I study brazilian jiu-jitsu and im good, and I have average below average striking skills. My other friends are not martial artists, so thank g-d we talked our way out of it. but how would you guys have handled the situation? P.S. I can only handle one guy at a time and the only availible weapons were my handheld kubaton, no sticks etc... on the street. BKJ1216
Well int he case of a grappling art like BJJ I probably woudla done my absolute best to talk out of it. Then if I coudln't I'd try to use as many as the striking techniques as possible, because grappling with 10 other guys around isn't smart. Some times you can look behind them & nod & when they turn to see what you is lookin at RUN !!!! Or you could resign your self to the fact your gonna get hurt so you might as well give better than you take. There's all kinds of thing's we do we aint gotta like. Gotta wonder what your doing out at 5 in the morning anyhow ????Goin to work ??? Being friendly would help also.
jiu-jitsu fighter
ok , i wasn't clear, i was in a group of 5 friends, and they were 10, and 2 of my friends would have run away , leaving, us 3 to defend ourselves. better? Smith amp Wesson
Threaten to tell their mommas !!!! Or whip out the tried & true "my dad can beat up your dad" Dude if they wanted to beat you & your friends up they could have. Next time go out with 5 more friends.Or don't be in places where your likely to be around teenagers tryin to be macho. Maybe get you some mace also. G95champ
You did the right thing. I don't care if you are a stand up fighter and you 2 friends stay you still down 2-1 and thats not good odds. Espically when were talking 17 vs 19 in age. That 2 big years of growing. Reguardless of that fighting is not right. First thing I would do is find me some better friends. LOL. If things would have broken out I would not leave my buddy to get beat up I don't care how many of them their was. As far as a method of attack. Find the leader of the bad guys and hit him in the groin. No such thing as fighting dirty and you need to take as many out as quick as you can so hit below the belt as much as you can and hope for the best. LOL. However you did the right thing. TJS
you did the right thing, btw here in the US were allowed to carry things to defend ourselves..including firearms in some states.. BJJ despite it's many advantages is not good against multiple attacker, you shoudl work on your standup though for the future.
Kyle-san
I'd talk my way out of it as best I could, and if that didn't work I'd hit as fast as possible. If you've got 10 against 3 the police will side with you, so there aren't any worries about how much force you need to use. Kicks to the knees and groin work well, if you can get a wrist lock or armbar from a block go directly into the break. Anything you can think of that will drop them quickly is preferable for this kind of fight, most damage with fewest moves. Throws work well, too.
