moobrack Posted September 7, 2001 Posted September 7, 2001 Kanku Dai is not also my favourite kata. This is because before I learnt that I learnt the heian Kata's and they sucked the fun out of Kanku Dai.But if it was the other way round it would be the same situation. Karateka Posted September 9, 2001 Posted September 9, 2001 Kushanku Dai as it is called in Shi-to Ryu, is lots of fun for me. It is a kata that, if not done right, looks crappy. This all refers to that jump. I can never really get it down repeatedly. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
KUGB_Chris1985 Posted September 9, 2001 Posted September 9, 2001 KUGB_Daz1987 is with me. KUGB_Chris1985 & KUGB_Daz1987, get it, we both go to the same club. angiewinter Posted September 10, 2001 Posted September 10, 2001 If performed badly, it looks crap. Its the jump, you see. winterkarate Posted October 11, 2001 Posted October 11, 2001 i agree with bagpuss i like heian sandan. i just think its a nice kata, but the end is hard to get right. i always seem to line up the kiba-dachi wrong or have my body unbalanced. although i must mention that i got taught the first few moves of kanku-dai the other day by sensei tobias reece /thankyou/ and i think ill enjoy that kata. also empi is a kata that im really interested in learning.
