BKJ1216 Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 Oh yeah I almost forgot. THere is a kata named suparpine or something like thatin goju that has 108 techniques in it. I though I'd let you guys know so you could boggle over it. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 I also like the Crane stances in Rohai, I think that's why it's one of my favourite katas. ..Is Seienchin and Sanchin the same kata? Because, I was looking on a website Seienchin kata and when I clicked on it, it was written: Sanchin (???) Kill is love
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 ....Oh and I like the breathing too in Seienchin, that's my style Kill is love
BKJ1216 Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 Is it the same breating where you breath in through your nose and out thorugh your mouth? White Belt- Shudokan Karate
superleeds Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 Empi kihon doza, or kihon Kata San Read a book!
Guest Posted March 18, 2003 Posted March 18, 2003 Right now I like Pinan Shodan, because that is the most complicated kata I have learned yet in my system. Pinan is the okinawan name for the kata, but I think funakoshi renamed it to Heian for Shotokan
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Pinan Shodan is one of my favourite katas of Pinan katas also, but I think I like Pinan Yondan more, because I also win with it. Kill is love
BKJ1216 Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Someone needs to get a video camera and tape some of these kata, I'd like to know what they look like. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
Guest Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I have never won any awards with Pinan kata, but I have one with wanshu/wansu but it isn't part of our system. It is dificult to win in kata with my style of karate. Our kata are very practical, but the aren't as visually appealing as say a shuri-ryu kata with the low stances and such
