Karateka_latino Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I cleanning my room and found an old magazine which have an article about JKD and the 26 elements Bruce Lee use to create JKD. Its said that, he used like 5% to 10% in some, and a lot more in others. 1.Wing Chun 2.Northen Praying Mantis 3.Sourthen Praying Mantis 4.Choy Lee Fut 5.Eagle claw kung fu 6.Wu Tai Chi 7.Pa Kua 8.Hsing I 9.Bak Hoo Pai (white crane)*Bak Fu Pai (White Tiger) 10.Ng Ga Kuen 11.Bak mei Pai 12.Northen Shaolin 13.Sourthen Shaolin 14.NY Ying Ga (NY?? maybe means New York lol) 15.Book Pal 16.Iaw Horn Kuen 17.Chin Na 18.Monkey Style 19.Drunken Style 20.Fencing 21.Boxing 22.Wrestling 23.Jiu Jitsu 24.Filipino Fencing 25.Filipino sirakan 26.Muay Thai. That's the list. BUT i feel isn't complete because we have testimonies of some aditional training he had and that he DID included those techniques in his JKD arsenal. I also feel that list is a little biased with the Chinese Styles that he may or may not added to his JKD. Other Styles that Bruce Lee DID trained are: Hapkido-hi jae han Taekwondo-Jhoon Rhee Tangsoodo-Chuck Norris Karate-Joe Lewis Judo-Gene LeBell
BKJ1216 Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 Man I need to learn my celebrity styles. Didn't Chuck Norris do karate? And are you saying he trained Bruce Lee or Bruce Lee trained him? White Belt- Shudokan Karate
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 they trained each other, bkj1216, some people refer to tang soo doo as karate, "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
BKJ1216 Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 Oh alright, thanks for clearing that up. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
SaiFightsMS Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 It is becomeing increasingly common for top martial artistists to train with each other exchanging information and techniques in the process. That period of time is when the practice really started. For clarification, when Chuck Norris began his training it was while he was in the Air Force staitioned in Korea in Osan. He began his training in Tang soo do.
delta1 Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 SaiFightsMS Posted:"It is becomeing increasingly common for top martial artistists to train with each other exchanging information and techniques in the process. I've heard stories from senior Kenpoists of Bruce Lee working out with Mr. Parker and some of his senior students. Mr. Parker also worked as a movie industry consultant, and of course Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris were actors. I think a lot of information got exchanged within this industry group. Still does. Freedom isn't free!
Karateka_latino Posted March 24, 2003 Author Posted March 24, 2003 Oh yes, thanks for reminding me that... Bruce Lee also worked with Ed parker in Kenpo Karate.
