Smith amp Wesson
But I'd rather talk about ZEN............. The action of non action.............wu wei........... Being in the zone................ Acting without thought.........Man it's a sweet feelin.........But the minute you relize your in the zone you break it's spell. At first. Then you can just Zen out again with experience. If you wanna intercept a fist that you didn't know was coming...........You can't think about it......you just do.......& you think..........how cool that I did that without thought. Theres alot of sports psychology to ZEN,or being in the zone...whatever you wanna call it. I've got a bunch of expirences of doin things that were unlikely........Because I wasn't thinkin about doin them. My first was when I was in little league..................... Smith amp Wesson
It's a pretty calm feelin. Some times you get tunnel vision where the peripheral get's brighter or darker & nuthin exists. The ball gets bigger. The hole gets bigger & you can't miss. Alot of folks have their best performances sick.I think the reason is cause it's eaiser to shut off thought when you sick.Allowing your body to do things. I've had a ton of examples happen to me & once your in the zone you learn to try in stay their by just excepting that your their & it's a centered place. If you start thinkin or become overly self aware you'll lose it.And the worst thing you can to do is want it.You can't care.Care will destroy it quicker than anything will. Thank's NN you'r on my list of favorites I did a pretty bad job with the thread post.......kinda out there for most I guess. Most probally read it & figured too many beers
TheDevilAside
That kind of thing happens to me all the time. For instance, once I caught a ping pong ball going extremely fast towards my head.. I didn't have a clue what I did until I saw the ping pong in my hand. And sometimes when I get into fights I can grab their fists without realizing or intending to do so. I don't know if that is even what you guys are talking about, lol, but it's weird. Now if only I could find a way to intentionally do such things. Shorin Ryuu
I've read a couple of books on zen for one of my history classes. I liked these two books: King, Winston L. Zen and the Way of the Sword: Arming the Japanese Psyche. New York: Oxford University Press, 1993. Suzuki, Daisetz. Zen and Japanese Culture. New York: Bollingen Foundation, 1960 You can probably pick them up at a library near you! (And yeah, that line did sound like a commercial). As far as zen experiences go, I've found that I've been able to simply clear my mind (doing it rather than thinking about it) and block out pain (that isn't exactly the best way to describe it, maybe acknowledging the pain without letting it affect you would be better). I "learned" probably as a mechanism to cope with continual physical duress. One instance was back when I was stupid and did not know how to use a makiwara properly, I would hit it 1,000 times (and I've found out that that is probably a bad method because I would have to take off a few days at a time because my knuckles would be squishy, ewww) and it was a way to cope with the pain. I have more examples, but you all get the picture (most of them involve me being too enthusiastic for my own good and paying for it later ).
