BKJ1216
The stadard curicualum. I still had to pay for my gi, obi, sparring helmet, sparring gloves, shin guards and a 2 bucks a month extras for sparring. So I don't think tis' a very good dojo. karate_woman
I don't think you can tell how good a dojo is simply because of its price, but it is obviously priced too high for you at this juncture so the point is moot. We have to buy our own gi, though Sensei has a startup package for new students that is $100.00 that includes the first month, plus a gi, crest, manual and mouthguard. Sparring equipment is extra, and we have to pay $10 insurance. I found an interesting article from the perspective of the person opening their own dojo, and what they have to consider. http://winstonstableford.com/YourOwnDojo.html The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. -Lao-Tse
ninjanurse
Besides "a standard curriculum",what else does he offer his students, i.e., thequality of instruction? What kind of martial artists has this guy produced? Are other students happpy? You may find that the school has A LOT more to offer than you think (not considering economics). I agree that you must stay within your means though so if $70 per month is too much for you look elsewhere. Some schools offer scholarships or give you a break if you help out around the school-it doesn't hurt to ask. I myself have paid over $100/month to train but it was worth every penny! The knowledge that I gained is priceless! And...I'd pay it all over again if I had to! Killer Miller
SALES SCAM... ABORT! ABORT!!! - Killer -Well I recently called the goju school in my area to see how much it costs. To make story shot i tried to convince him every way I could to tell me how much it costs, but all he would say is that i should see the classes before I judge. You guys think they're expensive? I told the guy that I can't go above 50 a month, and he still woudln't tell me, woudln't even tell me if it was above or below that.
