mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 It would be interesting if anyone knows it or practise Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu there Kill is love
BKJ1216 Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Well I know mikelw practices that style, don't know if he does at that dojo though. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
SaiFightsMS Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I have done Hayashi ha shito ryu but not under a dojo by that name.
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 Ok. interesting. There are too Minakami Karate Dojo's in the world, one in USA and one in Sweden, where I practised. But now I live in Estonia and that's why I'm so curious about Minakami and this style. Kill is love
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 SaiFightMS, that's cool that you have also done Hayashi-ha Shito-Ryu. My estonian instructor wants to know, what are the differences between different Shito-Ryu styles, like Tani-ha Shito-Ryu, Motobu-Ha Shito-Ryu, Hayashi-ha and so on.... Anyone knows? (I know too, but maybe you know more) Kill is love
brickman Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 (edited) Where in the US is his dojo? Is it Washington? IF so, he is pretty good at what he does. I have not trained Shito-ryu for a few years. I seem to recall some principals of the trade if you have specific questions...... Edited March 25, 2003 by brickman
mArTiAl_GiRl Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 I'm sorry, I don't know where his Dojo is, but yes, he is pretty good at what he does. Could you tell me, what do you most practise in Shito-Ryu? Do you practise katas in some special ways or has Shito-Ryu it's own principals for example in Kumite and so on... I know myself too, but I wanna know more, because there might be something I don't know yet. Kill is love
SaiFightsMS Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 Basically the differences stem from the person the style comes from. http://www.lawrencetown.com/Choki%20Motobu One of the differences between Hayashi ha is the prevelance of shiko dachi in the katas.
SaiFightsMS Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I found another web page with history of shito ryu on the page that has some explanaiton of the different factions of shito ryu and which master they come from. http://ahealthybodymassage.bizland.com/MassageTherapy/id10.html
BKJ1216 Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I've never even heard of the style, sorry. White Belt- Shudokan Karate
