I have just started judo and all i can say is wohaaa!! i love it ! I've been looking for a club for quite some time but found just one that was only for proffesional judo(performance club-i am 23 years old so i was not welcome).....but then i found out that in a military-marine institute they have a club too-so there i was the next day joining in! Not only that they welcome me with warm but they also gave me a gi to wear until i will buy one. :P

I also train in qwan ki do which is a stand up fighting martial art that also incorporates lots of joint locks and throws but no ground work so that's way istarted judo !

Just wanted to share this with you all and say hi !!

p.s. yesterday learned o goshi

Happines is not geting what you want but wanting what you've got!

meh, BJJ, gotta agree with you Dober,

"When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark,

and most people don't even know how to swim"

I THINK, BJJ has a better ground game, it is THE ground game.

But well, for the people who don't have access to a BJJ dojo or don't have the money to train because they charge too much for lessons or plain and simple there arent interest in BJJ. Judo is a very good option. lol

Have fun! I want to take Judo next year when I go to college. There's something about it that is more appealing to me than the other grappling arts.

Judo is great, and so is the O Goshi throws, but wait until you do ippon seoi nage, thats the damn coolest throw.

Congrats on finding something you like.

Congratulations. I also think judo is a great option. I intended joining a judo dojo, but this year at the University my instructor put together a self defence class and they learn there Aikido, Judo and Shotokan techniques. Imagine I'm there all the time (although I don't have to take the classes). I just said PLEASE to my instructor and she's happy to have a "crash test dummy". She wouldn't throw a beginner, cause they are all freaked out, so she uses me. And I love every flight :D

Go study Judo. You'll learn some useful things. Hmm O Goshi. OUCH. A beginner tried that on me. My left hand still hurts
