babysteffee Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Can someone please tell me the basics of jui jitsu? (oops, I hope I spelt that correctly.... ) Just I want to try another martial art, one that isn't like kickboxing.
Karateka_latino Posted August 28, 2001 Posted August 28, 2001 Jiu jitsu is one of the oldest martials arts. Its a grappling art, and have some stricking too, which is call Atemi its the art of hitting on vital points of the body. The Art of jiu jitsu have a lot of diferents schools in Japan. They have techniques for almost every situation , Against kicks, punches, collar grabs, bear hugs, etc.. they use take downs, wrist locks, chockes, arm locks , leg locks, on there feet and on the ground. Brazilian jiu jitsu is a version of Jiu jitsu that focus more on taking the oponnet down and beat him on the floor, but i learned that they have stand up techniques as the other school of jiu jitsu. And i think is great if you can take jiu jitsu, because kickboxing focus in strikes and Jiu jitsu focus in grappling, So you have a nice combination there.
