I started tae kwon do in October 2002 at age 20, stopped in June 2003 at age 21, and last Friday started Shorin-ryu at age 22. 8)

I started when I was 14

You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.

I started in September of 2002. I was 27 years old. Really enjoying it, hoping to achieve black belt before I turn 31, but no big rush. I'm just having a great time.

Really, really, REALLY wish I'd started eariler though. But don't we all...

I started when I was seven, but I recently made the aquaintance of several folks who have started in their 40's 50's and a couple who started in their 60's. All of them have said they wished they started earlier, not because physical reasons, but because of the feeling of overall wellness and increase in self esteem and self disicpline. I even heard that one guy was the stereotypical "grumpy old man" before he started training. Now he is pleasant and a great asset to his school and is loved by the kids in the children's class that he asissts the instructor with. So I agree, it's never too late to start!

A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!

I started in 2000, so I was... 21. I don't regret starting so late tough. It was a sad year for me and karate helped me to pull trough.

It happened at the right time. :)
