KUGB_Chris1985
What are the orders of belts in your styles of karate? Most styles are different aren't they? The KUGB (Shotokan karate.) order is: white orange red yellow green purple purple & white brown brown & white brown & 2 whites. What are your orders? iamrushman
in korean karate (taekwondo) we traditionally use: white/yellow/green/blue/red/black. sometimes with a stripe of the advancing color in between. there are many associations and federations in korean karate(taekwondo) and i'm sure they may use variations of these colors. rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson

Angus
It's interesting about the belts.. We really should describe ouuselves in our ranks as Kyu's or Kup's though... cos there is sucha a diverse range of belts. Angus. Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. Kato
I practice Goju-Ryu Karate, but I think the belt system has more to do with the organization one belongs to then the actual MA being practised. My school beleongs to the DKI and our belt system goes white, yellow, organge,orange-black stripe, green, green-black stripe, blue, blue-black stripe, brown, brown-black stripe, black. Karateka
It is amazing how these belts can be manipulated for public show and traditional values. There are some schools with lots and lots of belts, yet when they get their black, they know virtually nothing. Then there are some who have very few and when they get their black in a short while, they are great. I have seen that with many schools and different styles. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that as well. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
iamrushman
yes a lot of schools use lots of belts and stripes to increase there financial gains.........lots of testing equal lots of money. i dont agree with that but it is the way of the mcdojos. rushman (karate forums sensei)3rd dan wtf/kukkiwon"saying nothing...sometimes says the most"--e. dickerson
