BKJ1216 Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 I just rendered this stance in one of my favorite 3d programs. Tell me whats wrong with it. I'm going to be making a little short sparring animation, I want everything the right way. http://www.tectonic.cjb.net/4view.jpg White Belt- Shudokan Karate
Pacificshore Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Well from the looks of it, it looks like a front stance, only it's too narrow. You may have decent forward and backward movement, but you loose the lateral movement based on the feet positions. Of course this could be because of the 3D animation. I suggest widening the stance so that both feet aren't on the same line, and shorten the depth of the stance by loading up the rear leg by lifting the heel up off the ground(if your program can accommodate that is). Also have both hands up near the chin with the lead hand slightly ahead of the rear hand. How's that for sound for a short sparring animation? Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
G95champ Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Agreed Pacific The stance has to be wider. As far as hand placement if you doing a sparring clip have them up at the chin like Pacific said or at least one up and one down. No one will fight with that back hand ont he hip not even us Shotokan guys lol. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Grunt Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 One thing for sure, he better know how to fight wearing pants like that! LOL. Grunt "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." - Edmond Burk"A true warrior embodies more than the ability to wage war." - Anonymous
Stold Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 You are left with one arm to defend yourself with from frontal attacks without shifting stance.
omnifinite Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 That looks painful. I don't think my hips can do that. 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu
SaiFightsMS Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Place yourself in a stance like that. Have someone give you a little nudge. After you regain your balance make the stance wider and repeat the trial. Then you will know why the stance needs to be wider.
larryjf Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 if it's a front stance, make the stance wider and square up the shoulders and hips so that they are facing forward.
gheinisch Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 I agree with all. Looks like his walking a tightrope. Could be knocked off balance with one finger. Widen the stance. "If your hand goes forth withhold your temper""If your temper goes forth withold your hand"-Gichin Funakoshi
Joe-jitsu Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Feet are too wide lose mobility. Stance is too sideways, Put feet on 45 degree angle, square up shoulders, drop the center, make rear leg as cocked spring. Raise rear hand, elbows in.
