Fenris-wolf Posted June 24, 2003 Posted June 24, 2003 Hmm, sorry to butt in and be a pain, but I just have to whinge -they won't let women in at all!! Grr. I mean, I know I couldn't handle it, and I wouldn't even try (although I did want to be a sniper and I wasn't allowed to do that either ), but it's the principle of the matter. I also am aware it is a tough call for the government, since no matter how PC we may be people are still disturbed by women in combat. Look at all the crap that went down when there were female prisoners of war in Iraq! Nonetheless, it's kind of irritating to be told that we can't because it's uncomfortable for the politicians! Yes, we may be raped. It will maybe, even probably happen if we get captured. But we're big girls now and we are aware of the risks. I mean, up until recently it wasn't the smartest decision to join the Navy at all if you didn't want to be abused. Please, nobody start spouting the stuff about how women are weaker etc, I know it's true, but it only goes so far. Thank you for putting up with my rant Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!

sansoouser Posted June 28, 2003 Posted June 28, 2003 my dad was a navy seal so now I am training to be one I don't know how it compares to the marines other than they just go on secretive missions not front line usually The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. granmasterchen Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 airforce has para rescue and TACP and SEREs, but you can either sign up ahead of time with your recruiter or at basic .......i am still working for the government, any questions just ask, i should be able to get you an answer That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
fireka Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 ok, i just want to clear two things up: first, you cant quit the Marines! its a contract, they can fire you (per say) and you cant quit, you serve your term or get dishonorable discharged (but good luck getting a job ANYWERE if that happens) and also, in the USA women can join the Marines, just not special forces, im not sure which you refeer to. I just joined the Navy DEP program, so i guess im in the same department as the Marines! "i could dance like that!.......if i felt like it...." -Master Betty
