This basically allows one to get their basics and current curriculum down before getting something new. Just because someone can remember a form and spit it out, doesn't mean they understand it. I am against kyu/gup belts in general for adults, but for kids I see the need for them. But I would look into another school that doesn't rush promotions...as well as having a certified black belt program.
