Neil Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 At the moment I am only punching the heavy bag, but I really really want to start to punch the makiwara. All the ones I have seen have been the ones where you dig them into the ground but my parents simply won't allow it. But one of the people at my karate-Jutsu class has a Makiwara that consists of a huge bucket filled with concrete, with about 30 bamboo sticks tied together, and with pads stuck tied to the outside of the bambbo sticks. This is very easy to make but has anyone ever heard of this type of Maikiwara construction and is it effective? regards, Neil
KickChick Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Well you can purchase a wall mounted version... http://www.karatedepot.com/tr-ta-19.html All those that are constructed as you described do need to have a hole dug into the ground ... but there are other ways you can make )like the t-shirt with duct tape .... if you can find some!) http://ctr.usf.edu/shotokan/makiwara.html
