WhiteBelt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I was wondering if anybody here has studied this ancient text. I liked the history of karate even more now. I'm still trying to understand the vital points and that bit about the fighting techniques (if somebody tries to grab your legs, mash their head/ears/any vital point on the head, etc.) Have you found anything that works from it? I've only recently been reading.
Kirves Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I've read the McCarthy translation a couple of times. I feel it is most valuable as a historical curiosity, but I don't see it has that much practical value for today's karateka. Just my opinion though.
WhiteBelt Posted February 23, 2003 Author Posted February 23, 2003 Yes, learning how to kill through vital points is of limited value. And the practice of grabbing your opponent's larynx and testies wouldn't make you popular. I was just wondering what the more experienced might have found.
AndrewGreen Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Read it for historical value, thats all. It is oudated, we have far more and far better information available to us now. Would you want your MD to base his treatments for you of the medicine section? The hand to hand sections are the same. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!
