Afro.Fighter. Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas or tried methods on a way to quickly take the stiffness out of a new belt that doesen't cause it to fade or anything like that. WhiteBelt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Roll it up one way and then the other? Tie it into a knot, and then different knots? My belts were never stiff.
Afro.Fighter. Posted February 23, 2003 Author Posted February 23, 2003 Lol, Thanks. I think Age-16Rank/Style-1st Dan Wado Ryu Karate DoOccupation-Assistant Instructor
ZeRo Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 make your way along the length of the belt screwing it up as you go. after you screw it up flatten it out again. most belts will only need one go at this but if you have to do it twice.
KickChick Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Here are two tips to de-stiffenize new belts. (I like that word ) Throw it in dryer (dry) for 15 minutes with a "bunch" of fabric softener sheets. Or throw it over top of an open door and take each end and pull it back and forth then turn it over and keep doing until it gets de-stiffened
WhiteBelt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Make sure the edges of said door are not too 'sharp'. No sense in ruining that brand new belt.
omnifinite Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I roll it up back and forth when I get a new one, but I don't do a whole lot to it. I see loosening it up by wearing it as part of the process. 1st Dan HapkidoColored belts in Kempo and Jujitsu
