Mr Heel Hook Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 OK, I was just wondering because my Fiancee has started to come to Jiu Jitsu with me. Being an Atypical man I get worried for her because she is a women. I know that in part sounds a bit chauvinist, but I can't help it. When you spare in BJJ, it can get very VERY competitive. No one gets seriously hurt or anything like that, but sometimes people get a bit ruffed up and whatnot. I realize there are a ton of great Female Jiu Jitsu practitioners (in particular, Lika) but I just get a bit stupidly worried. Do you guys have a lot of women in your classes (of the grappling ilk) and are you as stupidly worrisome as me? "A deer admires a lion. But all the members of our family are lions. Kyle-san Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 In the Ketto Ryu Jujutsu class that I attend there are about 3-6 women depending on the day. Usually about a third to one half of the class.

BonnyBoy Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 None is our dojo. It's a big dojo though, we probably have up to 30 guys on the mats, so it's probably not the envrionment that women are looking to start in. There are always two choices, two paths. One choice is easy and its only reward is it's easy.It takes sacrifice to be the best.
Mr Heel Hook Posted February 23, 2003 Author Posted February 23, 2003 As "odd" as it makes me feel, and I think it's just cause I am worried about my fiancee, I think it is wonderful for women to take.
